Pollinator Documentation Resources

The Xerces Society, a non-profit dedicated to invertebrate conservation, has created a comprehensive list of community science projects that you can contribute to, which is linked here.

Below we have highlighted some of our favorites that are applicable to the Appalachian forest area. Click on their icon to be taken to their website!

  • Bumble Bee Watch is for people interested in documenting the wide range of bumble bee species in the region.

  • Journey North is for those interested in being a part of tracking monarch migration.

  • e-Butterfly documents all butterfly sightings - and the Appalachian forest region has a lot!

  • The Monarch Joint Venture can be used to document monarchs, milkweed plants, and monarch larva!

The website SciStarter also allows you to search for your region and will list any and all pollinator projects in the region! It can be found here.
