Images of the Forestry Exhibit

The Forestry exhibit was in place in the Appalachian Forest Discovery Center from May through October 2017. Developed by AFHA AmeriCorps member Joseph Lancaster, with graphic design by AFHA AmeriCorps member Tyler Winstead, the exhibit was partially funded by a minigrant from the West Virginia Humanities Council.

The exhibit shared the story of modern forestry in the central Appalachians, including the historical evolution of forestry practices, what foresters do, and how forestry supports healthy forests that provide sustained yield of forest products for people to use.

Three "story trees" in the exhibit illustrated specific trees found in our forests, and how people benefit from them. A batch of lumber samples let visitors try to identify over 25 species of lumber found in the Appalachian Forest.
